Cicerone Flawed Beers Course
Ray Daniels is the founder and director of the Cicerone Certification Program which began certifiying beer professionals in January 2008. To date the program has awarded certifications in more than 50 countries to more than 100,000 individuals. Prior to starting Cicerone, he worked for the Brewers Association in the US in a variety of roles including Director of Craft Beer Marketing and Editor of their magazines, Zymurgy and The New Brewer. Daniels is the author of Designing Great Beers, and co-author of Smoked Beers and Brown Ales as well as a contributor to The Oxford Companion to Beer. He is also a long-time member of the faculty at the Sibel Institute of Technology, America’s oldest brewing school.
Daniels began homebrewing in 1989 and soon became involved in writing about beer as well as organizing beer events. He is a graduate of the Siebel Institute of Technology’s Diploma Course in Brewing (1995) and has completed graduate coursework in brewing at Heriot-Watt University. Previously he earned a B.S. in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University and an MBA from Harvard. He is an investor in Revolution Brewing based in Chicago.
